Forecast Discussion

A low pressure system being tracked in to the North of the region due to some shortwave troughing is going to be the cause for some bad weather for today’s welcome weekend activities. This trough is going to be slowly making its way through the region over the next couple of days, leading to a prolonged period of some unpleasant weather over the beginning of the week. The Storm Prediction Center is expecting a marginal risk for severe activity today, which you can read about here. Our main threat is going to be due to excessive rainfall, but an isolated tornado cannot quite be ruled out, so make sure to stay weather aware both this weekend and as storms begin to ship out over the beginning of the week!

Following the pass of the shortwave trough on Tuesday, we should have a high pressure system settle into the region for the end of the week, so while this weekend may have some dismal weather in store for us, the early weekend looks promising for next week!
