Forecast Discussion

Athens County is currently under a Flood Warning until tomorrow at 4 PM. Be sure to check in with local law enforcement, NWS Charleston, and Athens County emergency management for current flood conditions and road closures. Remember, turn around; don’t drown! Do not try to drive through flooded roadways and be on alert for any more warning from NWS Charleston or Athens County emergency management.

Today and tonight, we will have rain showers continue on and off (which will further contribute to the flood risk). Monday finally brings an end to the constant rain, but a northerly trough will bring some cold air into the region. During the day, temperatures might be a little chilly for this time of year, but the biggest drop in temperatures will be at night. As of right now, Monday and Tuesday nights are forecasted to be the coldest nights. Be sure to watch both Scalia Lab and NWS Charleston for any freeze advisories or warnings. Looking ahead, another low pressure system will be moving into the region Wednesday night bringing more rain for Thursday.
