Forecast Discussion

An upper level trough digging into the northern plains has promoted the development of strong surface low. This system is expected to trek eastward across the upper Midwest late this week into the weekend. While temps are expected to peak into the mid 70s on Friday with partly cloudy skies, a strong cold front associated with this system will move through late Friday night into early Saturday morning bringing with it a significant chance for rain an perhaps a rumble of thunder. Temps will drop significantly for Saturday with the high temperature expected to reach only the upper 50s at best. Mostly cloudy skies will persist for the remainder of the day as the system traverses eastward.
