The southern portion of Athens county is under a Flash Flood Warning until 9:45 am and flash flooding is likely ongoing or imminent. If you are affected, seek higher ground and avoid driving on flooded roadways. Today we are expected to see another half inch of rain, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Warning for a portion of our area until 11:15 am as well as our Flood Watch until 1 am tonight. This warning means that flooding of rivers, streams, and other low lying areas will either begin shortly or they already are flooded. If you are traveling today please be wary of standing water on roadways. Remember, turn around and don’t drown.

Expect temperatures to drop throughout the day today and our rain showers to transition to snow showers around noon. By the evening, the snow will clear and we will have a cloudy and cold night with lows dipping down into the upper teens. Due to the temperatures being well below freezing, express caution when travelling in areas that have accumulated water. We will be relatively dry to start the week, however, the break from the precipitation will only last a couple of days. We will have another system bringing snow to our region with accumulations looking to be 3-5 inches as of now. We can also expect highs to stay in the 20s for the remainder of the week as we will continue to have arctic air enter our region.
