An active end of the week is expected today and tomorrow. While the chance for showers and storms are minimal today, a risk still remains as the Storm Prediction Center has much of southeastern Ohio under a marginal risk for severe weather. Any storms that may develop are likely to hit around 8 pm but will fizzle out overnight. By morning, we may see skies clearing which may not bode well for our severe weather chances. By the late afternoon and evening, clouds will rapidly begin to form once more as our chances for severe thunderstorms rise. The main severe threat will likely hit as scattered storms by 11 pm and could last into the early morning. All hazards—which include large hail, damaging wind gusts, and tornadoes—are possible with this system Friday. While it is still too early to tell the primary threats and exact timing, this is looking to be an overnight event. Please make sure you have multiple ways of receiving weather alerts, and please make sure these alerts are loud enough to wake you up if you are sleeping. However, anything can change between now and Friday evening, so please simply stay weather aware and know where you can shelter if the need arises.

Otherwise, by daytime Saturday, the atmosphere will thankfully clear up for the weekend and into early next week. Skies will begin to clear, but because of the presence of an upper-level ridge, warm, moist air could make our weekend hot and muggy.
