The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Athens area. The outlook is for strong and gusty winds through the night into Saturday. In combination with the winds, a Special Weather Statement has been issued due to Ohio’s increased risk of fire danger. Caution should be taken to prevent the spread of outdoor fires. A low-pressure system is moving its way into the region bringing cloud cover and the possibility for rain and thunderstorms Saturday. With this pressure system, expect a slight cool down with temperatures reaching the mid 70’s Sunday into Monday as this system passes over the region. Warm, summer-like temperatures will return later in the week!
