Forecast Discussion

A sweltering weekend is in store for us. Overnight tonight, a few high clouds will move in and out of the area due to an approaching warm front, which is set to push through during the morning hours of Saturday. This front will push in even warmer temperatures near 93 degrees, approaching the record high for our area and furthermore introducing very moist air to the region, making tomorrow feel swelteringly humid and almost reminiscent of summer. A chance of isolated storms during the afternoon is possible as well. Overnight as a weak cold front pushes in, clouds will clear, though another mature midlatitude cyclone will follow on the heels of this previous low. Another warm front is set to move through on Sunday, bumping temperatures back up to 94 degrees as the high, and ushering in more clouds throughout the day and into the evening.

By Monday morning, rain and thunderstorms are possible behind the warm front. This low pressure system will slow its pace across the upper United States, keeping periodic rain and storms possible throughout Tuesday as well amidst cloudy skies. The surface low will push out of the area but somewhat stall as it reaches the eastern United States, keeping cloud cover variable throughout Wednesday. Throughout this week, upper-level troughing and surface cold air advection will allow for cooler temperatures in the low to mid-80s to replace the oppressive heat we’ve felt in the area for the last few weeks, and hopefully keep it that way for the remainder of the Fall.
