Forecast Discussion
High pressure will maintain calm and clear conditions across Athens tonight, leading to a cool and quiet evening. Dry weather will continue into Monday with plenty of sunshine and light winds shifting gradually from the east to the southeast. By Monday night, cloud cover will increase ahead of a developing low pressure system approaching from the west. On Tuesday, conditions will become more unsettled as a strong cold front moves into the region. Showers and thunderstorms are expected by the afternoon and evening, and there is a chance for severe weather, including the potential for damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes. The Storm Prediction Center currently highlights southeastern Ohio in a risk area for severe storms. Residents are encouraged to stay weather aware, especially during the late afternoon and evening hours. As the front passes, showers may linger into the remainder of the week.
