Forecast Discussion
Fortunately for any 4th of July celebrations, high pressure will stick around through the end of the holiday before a very active week kicks off. This will mean dry and hot conditions for much of the day, with clouds building in later as the high pressure slides off to the east. A strong ridging pattern will build in across the Plains, and much of the Ohio Valley will sit in the periphery of this ridge. This, combined with moderate shear and decent instability, will make for a relatively active day on Tuesday. Rain showers could begin as early as late Monday, but likely not until the morning hours Tuesday. If conditions set up right on Tuesday, we could see thunderstorms turn severe into the afternoon, with damaging winds as the biggest threat. This pattern will continue daily for the remainder of much of the week, at least until the end of the forecast period.
These storms are very difficult to forecast and will require consistent updates as things begin to develop each day, so stay tuned to our Twitter and Facebook daily for the most up-to-date info.
