Technical Forecast Discussion
Short-Term Forecast (Sunday 11/02/2025 through Tuesday 11/04/2025)
A ridge aloft will build into the next couple of days with high-pressure at surface, leading to a continuation of stable conditions. Temperatures will stay fairly consistent during the short-term with slightly warmer air advecting into the region aloft. Moisture near the surface will remain fairly scarce, but some excess moisture aloft may lead to some upper-level cloud development. A cold front attached to an occluded mid-latitude cyclone in in Canada with a tightening pressure gradient will approach the state Monday, bringing in gusty conditions during this time. By Monday night into Tuesday morning, this cold front will weaken and dissipate just west of southeastern Ohio leading to drastically calmer winds. Little is expected during this time.
Long-Term Forecast (Wednesday 11/05/2025 through Saturday 11/08/2025)
The ridge seen during the short-term will continue through Wednesday and Thursday with intensifying zonal conditions. On Wednesday, another low will traverse eastward over the state, putting southeastern Ohio in the warm sector behind a warm front. This will allow temperatures to jump slightly into possibly the mid-60s during this time, and with an approaching cold front, gusty winds may return Wednesday as well. Cold air advection will creep in during the early long-term but will return at full-force Friday and Saturday with the return of yet another surface low. By Friday, we could see some more rain especially but may have some showers Saturday as well as a shortwave will pass through the early morning hours. An intense drop in pressure tendency can be expected Friday with the arrival of the forecasted unsettled weather during this time and a substantial increase in moisture aloft and near the surface. High cyclonic vorticity can be seen early Saturday morning moving eastward through the state, but will quickly dissipate through the remainder of the day.
