The National Weather Service has issued an enhanced (level 3/5) severe weather risk for much of the southern portion of Ohio including Athens county as well as a 5% chance of Tornadoes for Friday May 16th, 2025
Currently the temperature is around 80 degrees and will continue to decrease to around 70 degrees tonight due to a warm front staying over the region. Tonight will be calm winds as well as mild temperatures as a result of this front and going into Friday, the temperature should reach into the mid to low 80s. However, Friday night storms are expected to hit the region due to a low pressure system to our NW which will being some scattered rain showers and thunderstorms as a result of this system moving through, the NWS has also issued an enhanced severe weather warning for the region tomorrow. Saturday, you can expect some morning rain showers due to the severe weather from Friday night. As a result of this early morning convection, temperatures will be lower with highs expected around 70 degrees with cloudy skies.
