Forecast Discussion
The warm and pleasant conditions of the weekend are expected to come to a sudden end this evening as a strong cold front sweeps through the area. Ahead of the front, warm, moist air will continue to move into the region from the south. However, clouds are expected to continue to build throughout the day, especially into the late afternoon and evening. Then, near or just after dinner time, a line of showers and storms associated with the cold front will move through. Some storms along the front may even be severe, with the strongest storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph. Showers and storms are expected to linger for several hours after the initial line’s passage, also leading to concerns for locally heavy rainfall accumulations and thus localized flooding. Behind the front, the rest of the week will feature typical fall conditions: below average temperatures in the upper 50s/60s for highs and 30s/40s for lows, partly cloudy skies and scattered showers throughout the end of the week.
