Forecast Discussion

The National Weather Service in Charleston, WV has issued a Frost Advisory in effect from October 3, 12:00 AM EDT until October 3, 10:00 AM EDT.

High pressure is expected throughout the weekend causing dry conditions. In the upper levels a deep trough is allowing cold artic air to influence our temperatures in the Athens region. Patchy frost is likely with the low temperatures expected to happen over night. The next chance for precipitation is on Sunday as shortwave disturbances move past aloft. These shortwaves are associated with a weak low pressure system at the surface. Guidance is suggesting light rain with the associating system due to surface parameters not being favorable. As next week approaches, high pressure and dry conditions return back to our region.
