An upper-level ridge has parked itself over the Mississippi and Ohio Valleys, with troughs on either side of the ridge over the east coast and Plains regions. As the troughs will stagnate or even retrograde back west over the coming days, the ridge will have nowhere to go but to stay in place. As a result of this, high pressure that has developed beneath this ridge will also remain stout for the next several days, bringing clear and seasonably warm conditions to the region. Thus, the forecast for the next several days is expected to play out like today: sunny by day with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s, with clear skies and lows in the mid-upper 40s by night. This pattern is largely expected to hold through the forecast period.
