As high pressure continues to subtly nudge off to the east today and tonight, warmer and more humid air will continue to build in behind it. Thus, today will stay mostly sunny due to the influence of the high pressure, while temperatures rise to either side of 90 and heat indices approach the mid to even upper 90s. Clouds will increase ahead of the next low pressure system tonight, with the chance of a passing shower, and even patchy fog in areas due to the heightened humidity. Scattered showers and storms will again become a threat Sunday ahead of a cold front approaching the region. A few of these storms could be strong due to the high instability in place with the summertime heat and humidity, with gusty winds being the biggest threat. Behind the front, a cooldown is expected for the early part of next week, with highs in the upper 70s and reduced humidity underneath again mostly sunny skies.
