Last night, due to a cold front plummeting the temperatures down so low, there should be widespread frost in the area this morning until the temperatures warm up enough during the day to melt it. The same is true for the precipitation system that has been affecting us, where it was a rain/snow mix at night, and will be through this morning until the temperature warms up past freezing and turns it into rain showers. Your commute today shouldn’t be affected much, since no accumulation is expected from this wintry mix. This freeze, though, is likely going to spell the end of growing season, as it is expected to be very powerful. Today, be on the lookout for some higher-than-normal wind gusts through the day today due to a strong pressure gradient between the low pressure bringing us the precipitation and the high pressure building to our south.

That high pressure system will take hold after today, and bring temperatures back up as the week progresses, we’re monitoring the possibility of some more precipitation on Thursday night due to a shortwave trough, but we are expecting it to not have enough moisture to sufficiently cause any issues, so it will just bring an increase in cloud cover rather than any measurable precipitation. This high pressure system is expected to stick around for the remainder of the forecast period, so it looks like we’ll have another week of fighting off winter!
