Technical Forecast Discussion

Short Term (Thursday 10-27-22 through Sunday 10-30-22)

A broad high pressure system is currently sitting over the Great Lakes region, providing sunny skies and cool temperatures after a cut off low pressure system has pushed off to the northeast. Mainly clear skies can be expected during the overnight hours tonight; however, by Friday night, clouds will begin to creep in from the southeast as the next system begins to approach. Milder temperatures will also creep in ahead of this system, with temperatures in the mid 60s. This low pressure has already begun to develop and is tracking across the southern U.S. as we speak, igniting some showers and thunderstorms, with some being severe in parts of Texas. This same low pressure will transition to an open wave and lift northeast towards the southeast Ohio region on Sunday, sending a cold front through. Rain chances look likely to begin as early as Sunday night.

Long Term (Monday 10-31-22 through Thursday 11-3-22)

Rain showers will continue through at least Monday as the open wave low pressure continues to lift to the northeast. This system will then move out, with a relatively large ridging pattern aloft as well as surface high pressure taking place. This pattern will likely continue for the rest of the week, keeping temperatures mild and providing sunny skies.
