Forecast Discussion
The remainder of the work week and the first part of the weekend will be dry as anomalous high pressure continues to build over the Great Lakes region. We have been in what is called an omega block pattern for over two weeks now, allowing this high pressure to stay persistent and causing a low pressure system on the west coast as well as on the east coast to remain stationary. This low on the east coast will send some wildfire smoke up in the atmosphere over the Great Lakes beginning today, potentially pushing far enough southward to provide some hazy conditions. This wildfire smoke will begin to clear out in time for the weekend in time for the next disturbance to approach. This will bring chances for showers and isolated thunderstorms to close out the weekend and into next week as this disturbance is expected to linger.
