A shortwave trough is moving through the area tonight bringing a chance for some showers and thunderstorms with an isolated severe storm. If any storms turn severe, the main threats would be quarter sized hail and damaging wind gusts. Once the shortwave trough moves out of the area, the strong high-pressure system currently sitting in the west will progress eastward along with an upper-level ridge that will bring hot and muggy conditions. A Hazardous Weather Outlook was issued by the NWS in Charleston. Temperatures will be soaring into the mid-90s by the end of the work week along with humid conditions which can bring heat indices into the triple digits. A potential heat advisory may be issued. Due to these muggy conditions, a stray afternoon pop-up shower or storm cannot be ruled out.

Heading into the weekend, a low-pressure system will move through the area on Saturday bringing another chance for some showers and thunderstorms.
