A ridge of high pressure at the surface has currently set up over the region, bringing some clearing and drier conditions to the area for the time being. Snow showers and some flurries will linger this morning as moisture remains in the area, but all precipitation should clear out by around 10 to noon. Tonight, breezy to gusty conditions will cause wind chills to drop to anywhere from -4 to -15 degrees as outlined in the National Weather Service Wind Chill Advisory, in effect from 1 AM to 11 AM tomorrow.

For the later part of the week, an incoming low-pressure system off the Great Lakes will likely form an occlusion bringing more cold air to the region, and also snowfall starting Thursday into at least Saturday. Snow accumulations are still somewhat unclear at this time, but current models have consistently shown that anywhere from 3″ and up to around 5″ could be possible, however, we are still waiting on short-range models to paint a better picture. What we know for sure is that accumulating snow will certainly fall and cause at least some minor travel impacts. Saturday afternoon, high pressure is expected to move in and provide clearer and drier weather, and possibly a slight warmup.

Aside from snowfall, wind chill remains the biggest threat currently and also with the next system, so make sure to take precautions to prevent hypothermia and frostbite.
