An approaching cold front will bring cooler temperatures and chances of precipitation throughout the afternoon and evening today, most likely beginning around 1:00 or 2:00 pm. This system, coming from the west is expected to be a strong one as precipitation is expected throughout Friday evening and the entirety of Saturday. When this system passes through, tightening pressure gradients aloft will allow for strengthening winds (up to 15 mph) as this low-pressure system settles through our region.

Tomorrow is where the low-pressure system will become its strongest, with rainfall amounts between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch possible. The amount of instability during this time could produce a possible chance of thunderstorms from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. Looking into the night, some thunder is possible with the rainfall that will be received. Overnight lows may allow for a slight chance of snow showers in the middle of the night. Sunday, it appears that this system will eventually head out of our region after the morning passes – there is a chance of snow showers and rain showers but eventually building high-pressure will allow for decreasing clouds.
