Dreary weather continues this weekend as another low pressure system tracks through the Midwest, bringing steady rainfall behind the warm front. This rain will likely continue through the morning, becoming more scattered by the later afternoon, and tapering off in the early evening. Temperatures will be around 60 degrees, but once the cold front passes, Saturday’s nightly low looks to be cold, at around 30 degrees. Sunday will experience some interesting weather – a rush of cold air from the northwest will make for a high in the mid 40s, but accompanied by significant wind, with gusts up to 40 mph possible. In addition, the quick drop in temperatures could allow for some isolated post-frontal flurries to pop in and out during the day on Sunday.

Despite this gloom, a significant ridging event seems to be growing more likely, prompting strong warming in our daytime highs as the week continues. High pressure will set in, and temperatures around 70 degrees could be possible by Wednesday amidst sunny skies. Weather whiplash is always interesting to see, especially in the early spring, so bear with the nasty, cold rain for now until we get to the sunny and warm weather soon!
