Forecast Discussion

A strong persistent high pressure overhead is going to create some very warm conditions now through most of this upcoming week. Afternoon temperatures will peak in the mid-to-upper 90s with heat index values into the low 100s Monday and Tuesday. As a result of these heat index values, NWS Charleston has put out an Excessive Heat Watch that will remain in effect from Monday morning through Friday evening. As always, with these extreme temperatures, take extra caution when outside for extended periods of time and stay hydrated.

A quick shortwave disturbance has the chance to spark some small thunderstorms late Monday evening/overnight hours. The models are not currently in agreement, so our confidence is low in their impact, but decent instability and moisture looks to be present if the shortwave were to move through. Check back tomorrow for further details.
