High-pressure will continue to dominate for today as cloud cover increases throughout the day. Clouds will roll in Friday night before some morning rain occurs. This is due to a maturing midlatitude cyclone moving northeast into Canada. This will allow the Ohio Valley to be in a narrow warm sector, which will fuel showers and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening. Dewpoints will be near 70 degrees with instability and modest low-level wind shear. This will support a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather issued by the SPC. There is uncertainty on how the morning convection will affect the afternoon storms, but if there is ample daytime heating, storms can become severe. If morning convection messes with the diurnal heating of the surface, storms could end on the lower severe side. The main threats are damaging winds gusts, hail, and an isolated weak tornado. Once the cold front moves through Sunday night into Monday morning, a few lingering showers are possible Saturday night. Otherwise, it will stay cloudy. Highs will drop to the upper-70s for Monday as high-pressure settles and an upper-level ridge begins building. Due the building of the ridge, highs will climb back into the upper-80s for Tuesday under pleasant conditions.
