A mature midlatitude cyclone will move through the Ohio Valley Saturday accompanied with an upper-level shortwave trough. Southeast Ohio will be located in the warm sector where a warm, moist airmass will develop showers and thunderstorms into the afternoon and evening. It will be quite muggy with dewpoints at 70 degrees accompanied with enhanced southwesterly flow at the surface. This has the SPC issuing a slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather. The main threats with this system are damaging wind gusts and an isolated weak tornado or two with the enhanced low-level flow. Depending on the daytime heating, it could impact the severity of these storms.

Once the cold front moves through Sunday morning, cooler conditions will persist on Monday with highs in the upper-70s as high-pressure settles in at the surface. However, an upper-level ridge begins to build Tuesday allowing for highs to climb back into the upper-80s and into the low-90s for Wednesday. However, another low-pressure system from Canada could bring another round of showers and storms Wednesday.
