Forecast Discussion

After a round of showers and storms for Independence Day, Friday will be much of the same. An upper-level trough will support vertical motion for showers and thunderstorms as a low-pressure system sits over Michigan. Surface dewpoints will be in the low-70s which will provide a very moist and unstable airmass ahead of the cold front. The SPC has issued a marginal risk( level 1 of 5) for severe weather with clusters of storms possible. The main threat would torrential downpours and damaging wind gusts. Once the cold front moves through Saturday morning, clouds will begin to clear out and high-pressure will settle in at the surface.

High temperatures will begin to climb into the low to mid-90s as high-pressure builds and sunny skies persist all weekend heading into the beginning of the work week. However, another low-pressure system with another cold front will bring another round for chances of showers and thunderstorms.
