Technical Forecast Discussion
Short-term Forecast (Sunday 7/7/2024 through Tuesday 7/9/2024):
High pressure will remain over our region for much of the beginning of the week. As southwesterly flow builds in our region, warm and moist air will be funneled into the area providing proper ingredients for potentially high heat index values making our low 90s feel like upper 90s near potentially triple digits Tuesday. At this time, the NWS has not issued a heat advisory but stay tuned to future forecasts in case this changes. Regardless, if you are to spend time outside, be sure to stay hydrated and in the shade as much as possible to avoid heat related illness. Otherwise, calm conditions are expected with clouds above the mixed layer fleeting in and out of the sky.
Long-term Forecast (Wednesday 7/10/2024 through Saturday 7/13/2024):
The chance for some showers and thunderstorms will arise Wednesday as mid-level troughing to the north as well as moisture from the remnants of Beryl will impact our region. Stay tuned to future forecasts closer to this when we will have a better idea of the severity of these storms as models are still unsure of the timing of their arrival. If we see a break in cloud cover before these storms providing ample heating, some of these could potentially be severe. This is also due to some deep-level shearing appearing on models of around 30 knots. Consistent rainfall is also possible so we will be monitoring the risk of flood events Wednesday into the evening as well. Conditions appear to dry out following this moisture from Beryl allowing for a pleasant end to the week. Day time highs will also cool into the low to mid 80s as a frontal system passes by. High pressure will return allowing skies to clear some gorgeous mid-July conditions!
