We are currently under a big ridge, which has brought high pressure and heat into our area. This ridge will break down however, as an isolated area of low pressure that isn’t connected to any trough of some kind moves Northeast over the next few days. This low pressure will bring thunderstorms into our area, and as it moves Northeast, it will follow along the coattails of a massive jet streak in Canada (specifically in Ontario and Quebec), associated with an upper level low pressure and a miniature trough. This creates a new, pronounced trough, which doesn’t have a lot of strong upper-level winds. This new trough will form in Missouri and Illinois and continue to traverse eastward until it combines with a localized area of low pressure that is moving along the Atlantic coastline into New England. These two events are what will break down the ridge. As a result, we will experience a lot of thunderstorms and rain in the next several days. Anyway, tomorrow will be the last day of being in this ridge, so for the high temperatures, tomorrow will be in the low to mid 90s. Monday is the first day we will see a lot of rain and thunderstorms, so the temperature will be in the low 80s. Tuesday will continue the trend and be in the mid 80s. Wednesday and Thursday will be in the upper 80s, although thunderstorms will likely persist. Of the days where rain and thunderstorms is still forecasted, Wednesday has the lowest chance at 30%.
