Technical Forecast Discussion
Short-term Forecast (Sunday 09/09/2024 through Tuesday 09/10/2024):
High pressure and upper level ridging has parked itself over the region providing pleasant and uneventful conditions. With clear skies and low relative humidities, a warming trend will occur throughout the week. Low relative humidity in conjunction with the D4 drought status, fire weather risk is currently elevated. Otherwise, a fairly uneventful week of weather is ahead.
Long-term Forecast (Wednesday 09/11/2024 through Saturday 09/14/2024):
The risk for fire weather will continue as low relative humidity and drought conditions continue. Some rain could jump into the forecast into the weekend as a tropical disturbance that is projected to make landfall near Louisiana progresses northward. Even so, drought conditions are not predicted to recover as we still remain at a D4 status.
