Forecast Discussion

Make sure to carry your umbrellas this week! An occluded low pressure system will be moving into our region and bringing two cold fronts behind it, giving us increasing clouds and strong chances of rain tomorrow and into tomorrow night! There is some potential for snow later in the week as temperatures will drop Thursday; while the temperatures will be cold enough for some snow, it is likely to melt upon impact with the ground.

The National Weather Service has released a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Athens, OH. Winds will shift from southeasterly to westerly come Wednesday, and strong gusty winds may develop in the lowlands Wednesday night into the weekend; gusts could exceed 30 mph at times! The precipitation may transition into a wintery mix or snow during the overnight hours, resulting in some slippery roads Wednesday night into this weekend. Please be weather-aware when driving and commuting this week!
