Forecast Discussion

A deep trough will continue to permeate over Ohio allowing cold air to stagnate in Athens. Calm, but windy, conditions are expected to persist today and tomorrow as high-pressure settles back into the region. However, a developing mid-latitude cyclone in Canada will bring the possibility of snow showers once more by the end of the week. Wednesday into Thursday morning will feature incredibly gusty winds with sustained winds of 10-17 mph, increasing during the day, and gusts having the chance to possibly reach 25-30 mph! Of course, anything could change as we proceed into the week, so don’t hold your breath on those numbers just yet!

Wednesday and Thursday will also bring the chance for wintery mix, as mentioned previously. Wednesday has a slight chance for rain-snow mix while Thursday has a slightly higher chance for snow flurries. Please make sure to keep bundled up this week as temperatures remain chilly!
