This week will be a pretty active weather pattern for the forecast period. To start out, today there is an upper-level ridge associated with high-pressure at the surface. However, clouds will increase throughout the day due to an approaching midlatitude cyclone from the central plains. This low-pressure system will stall and cut-off aloft as a stationary front lifts through the Ohio Valley tonight into Sunday with widespread soaking rain becoming more scattered during the afternoon tomorrow. A shortwave ridge will provide a brief break in the rain Sunday night into Monday morning with clouds sticking around.

However, another midlatitude cyclone from the Northern Plains will track quickly northeast lifting a warm front into the area on Monday. Widespread soaking rain is possible on Monday before a cold front moves through Tuesday morning and high-pressure settles in behind the front. Skies will clear on Tuesday, but it won’t last long as another low-pressure system from the south moving north will lift a warm front into our area bringing another round of showers. This soaking period will bring highs into the 50’s with colder weather settling in later in the week. Over an inch of rain is possible during this period, so be cautious when driving on wet roadways.
