Forecast Discussion

By the end of today a warm-front associated with a mid-latitude cyclone will pass over Athens. This will allow southerly winds to bring warmer, moist air up into Ohio. Unfortunately, this does mean that any precipitation we may receive Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will just be rain. Although, most of this rain will be in the overnight hours of Monday night into Christmas Eve. If any rain showers occur on Christmas, at the current moment it looks like it may hit midday. However, don’t hold your breath on this chance as there is no concise answer as of right now for when, or if, precipitation will occur on Christmas.

Otherwise, a broad ridging pattern in the upper atmosphere and high-pressure will continue this warm pattern. If you’re enjoying these temperatures, you’ll be happy to hear that the next week will continue to be just as warm as it will be. According to the Climate Prediction Center, the temperatures for the next couple of weeks are expected to remain likely above average.
