Forecast Discussion
Athens County is still under a Winter Storm Warning until 1 am EST. Last night the Athens County Sheriff’s Department issued a level 3 snow emergency because of Winter Storm Blair. A level 3 snow emergency indicates that road conditions are extremely hazardous, and we urge that no person be on the road unless it is an emergency. All roadways will be closed for non-emergency personnel. There have been power outages because of this storm in Athens County, so please make sure you stay warm and prepare in case your power goes out. If you are not sure of what to do if your power goes out, please consider visiting the NWS’ page on winter weather safety.
For the remainder of today, snow will continue to impact the Ohio Valley region. Some bands will be heavier than others, but thankfully by the evening the snow will taper off as this occluded low moves eastward. The chance for snow could return Wednesday and Friday but will not be as intense as this storm has been. Temperatures are expected to trend upward, although not by much as high-pressure comes and goes this week.
