A Winter Weather Advisory is currently in effect until 4 PM Saturday for an ongoing snow event in Southeast Ohio. Tonight, snow will continue past midnight, tapering off by the early morning hours of Saturday. A few scattered snow flurries are still possible before noon, though the remainder of Saturday will be cloudy. Accumulations from this snow could total between 2 – 3 inches, and possibly higher in localized and elevated areas. During this time, driving is discouraged, especially on lesser-travelled roads, and continue to be cautious if you plan to drive during Saturday as well. Temperatures on Saturday will reach a high of 32 degrees, and will continue to be overcast into Sunday, with a few small breaks in the clouds possible overnight. Higher pressure will return and settle on Sunday, making for a clearing in skies to become completely sunny by the afternoon, and a high in the upper 30s likely.

Though a break from winter precipitation is likely into the new week, a cold snap is imminent. A dry cold front will push through on Monday, which will plunge temperatures down to the lower 20s as daytime highs, and in the single digits overnight as a strong trough takes hold through Wednesday. The first week of classes for students at Ohio University will be a very cold one, so continue to dress warmly and minimize the amount of time spent outside, especially as wind chill appears to be a likely threat.
