Another hot and humid one today and with dew points in the upper 60s and low 70s. Due to the high temperatures and humidity levels, heat indexes are expected to reach near 100 degrees this afternoon. Because of this, the National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement. Remember to limit strenuous outside activities, wear light clothing, and drink plenty of water today to avoid heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

After a beautiful weekend, the chances of rain will return starting this afternoon, and we will continue to see chances of rain into next week. With today’s showers, expect rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. Heavier rainfalls are possible from embedded thunderstorms, the Storm Prediction Center has placed us under a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) for severe weather today. This risk is mainly due to the risk of higher winds during embedded thunderstorms. This is due to a surface low-pressure system entering into our region. Outside of the rain we can expect temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s throughout the week.
