Forecast Discussion

A large blocking ridge will sit over much of the eastern United States through most of the week. Surface high pressure will allow skies to remain clear and temperatures to soar, bringing back temperatures in the lower-to-mid 90s. Minimal wind won’t provide much relief as dry air persists. By Friday, a low-pressure system will move north of Ohio bringing the possibility for rain Friday and Saturday, with the possibility of a rumble of thunder on Friday. This system will be driven by a small upper-level trough, allowing for moisture to build and clouds to develop. While a cold front is not expected to pass over Ohio, a very minor cool-off could be felt Saturday, although temperatures will only possibly dip just into the upper-80s. Unfortunately, heatwave-like conditions are likely to persist through next week and possibly into the start of August.
