Today is the same story we have been hearing over the past month. It is currently a warm 80 degrees with clear skies due to high pressure dominating the region. At upper levels, a ridge over the eastern U.S. is responsible for these dry and above-normal temperatures. Overnight, it is expected to drop into the high 50’s, and we could see some radiation fog in the morning pre sun rise. Monday is more or less the same, but we could now see some patchy clouds throughout the day. Overnight Monday into Tuesday morning, things are now changing. A cold front is expected to start approaching, and the upper-level ridge that has kept the region warm is supposed to flatten and turn into a shortwave trough. As a result, early Tuesday morning could have brief heavy rain or thunderstorms, and some wind gusts up to 20mph. As Tuesday night arrives, the chance for rain is now even greater since the cold front is expected to be fully through the Ohio Valley, and scattered storms could produce up to an inch of rain. Wednesday, there could be lingering showers, but by Thursday high pressure will once again take over.
