Technical Forecast Discussion

Key Messages:

  • Clouds to persist through Friday, decreasing by Saturday as moisture exits the region.
  • Rain will likely return throughout the majority of Friday from an approaching surface low.
  • Calmer conditions will follow Saturday through Monday, but rain could make its return Tuesday.

Short-Term Forecast (Thursday 11/20/2025 through Saturday 11/22/2025):

Clouds persist Thursday as high-pressure and broad ridge remains over the region. Chilly conditions continue through the short-term, though temperatures are expected to warm through Friday before stabilizing around the mid-50s Saturday. An approaching low-pressure system will likely bring more rain to the area on Friday and possibly in the early morning hours on Saturday as a channel of moisture funnels through southern Ohio. Rain may make Friday a complete wash-out due to the potential for rain to impact much of the day, possibly being heavy at times. Thankfully, much of the rain will move out of the region early Saturday morning, leaving the remainder of the day dry, though slightly colder. A cold front is expected to move through following the rain Friday, dipping our temperatures into the lower-50s compared to the upper-50s Friday. Slightly windier conditions likely will follow Saturday after the aforementioned cold front passes through. Skies will begin to clear on Saturday.

Long-Term Forecast (Sunday 11/23/2025 through Wednesday 10/26/2025):

Moisture is expected to decrease Sunday and Monday, bringing down our chances for unsettled weather these two days as high-pressure fills in behind the exiting low-pressure. As previously mentioned, clouds will begin to dissipate on Saturday but will persist through Sunday and much of Monday. This may change late Monday through Tuesday as yet another surface low slowly begins to crawl eastward towards the state. This low was a part of a cut-off low aloft near New Mexico as of Thursday, though will begin to weaken as it approaches Ohio before merging with the flow and becoming a shortwave by Tuesday. Plenty of moisture will follow with this low and may bring back the chance for rain Tuesday and possibly early Wednesday. Though, much of the moisture will recede at the mid-levels alongside with another cold front associated with this surface low. Temperatures likely will remain steady in the mid-50s to possibly upper-50s mid mid-next week for your Thanksgiving holiday.
