Forecast Discussion
As storms push away from the region this morning, the heat will continue to build today as the sun breaks through the clouds. Temperatures will soar into the low-mid 90s today, and, combined with very high humidity with dewpoints well into the 70s, will cause heat index values to climb as high as 110. This heat will make it potentially dangerous to be outside for prolonged periods, prompting an Excessive Heat Warning today. Temperatures will stay high overnight as the humidity remains oppressive, with lows only retreating to the low-mid 70s. The humidity will also lead to areas of fog tomorrow morning. Two more very hot days await for Wednesday and Thursday, with highs reaching the mid-upper 90s both days as dewpoints remain in the 70s. However, showers and thunderstorms look to return Thursday evening and night as a cold front finally begins approaching the area, providing a bit of relief for Friday (although it will still be hot with temperatures in the upper 80s-low 90s) and especially into the weekend (where finally humidity drops and highs only reach up to 80).
