Increasing Clouds, Chance of RainIssued: 10am on Saturday, December 7th 2024
Forecast Discussion
This weekend will bring relatively calm weather compared to the active pattern we have been experiencing. Relatively high-pressure will remain at the surface with slight ridging aloft bringing sunny and dry conditions. However, a midlatitude cyclone will progress eastward lifting a warm front over the Ohio Valley on Monday. Clouds will begin to increase overnight Sunday due to the proximity of the warm front and widespread rain will move in late Sunday night into Monday morning and early afternoon. Rain will become more scattered in the afternoon; otherwise, it will remain cloudy with southerly flow and highs climbing into the high-50s. Highs will remain in the low-50s for Tuesday with scattered showers ahead of an approaching cold front. Once the cold front moves through Tuesday evening, colder conditions will return as a very deep trough transmits cold air advection into the area. On the back end of the cold front, some snow flurries are possible as highs return in the 30s and WNW flow dominates.
