An incoming cold front has kept lingering clouds over the region. As this surface low pushes closer to our region the cold front will occlude and rain will move into the area, turning to a rain/snow mix overnight on Friday night and turning to all snow by Saturday as temperatures drop below freezing. Breezy to windy conditions will also move into the area becoming windy by Friday night with wind gusts as high as 45 mph likely and sustained winds around 20-30 mph. This is due to a very strong and deepening surface low-pressure system that is bringing rain/snow to the region. Trace accumulations with locally up to 0.2-0.3″ are possible with minimal travel impacts expected, but some slick spots are possible as rain changes to snow with colder temperatures Friday PM.

After this system moves off to the northeast, lingering snow flurries and showers will stick around through the end of the weekend and starting the week on MLK day, but travel impacts should be minimal. Flurries and showers are lingering due to the trough moving through providing enough disturbance to have some precipitation, and temperatures are expected to plunge with daytime highs in the mid-20s and overnight lows dropping as low as 9 degrees on Monday night.
