A very strong upper-level ridge has brought a strong high-pressure system to the region, which has been bringing us very hot conditions with not very much precipitation over the rest of the week. This will mean an Excessive Heat Watch for tomorrow due to expected heat indices of up to 105 degrees. These conditions are very hot and dangerous, so be adamant to take precautions and recognize the signs of heat illness. Additionally, if possible, limit time outdoors in the heat during the afternoon.

Some showers and thunderstorms are expected, mainly on Thursday, as a shortwave trough moves through the ridge. This shortwave will be associated with a low-pressure system, and storms will form ahead of a cold front that develops with this system. Some storms could be severe, as we are placed under a Marginal Risk for severe weather today and tomorrow; however, the main threats will be damaging winds and hail. Thankfully, conditions for tornadoes are not anticipated at this time.

Through the extended forecast, some showers and thunderstorms are possible again on Friday as the cold front is expected to make its push through the region, and through Sunday we can expect cooler weather in the mid-to low-80s.
