Technical Forecast Discussion

Short-term Forecast (Saturday 6/7/2024 through Monday 6/10/2024):

Weak high pressure will occur Saturday; however, skies will begin to increase in cover heading into the evening and overnight hours as a cold front associated with the positively tilted trough begins to enter the region. This front will bring light scattered showers to SE Ohio Sunday morning through the early afternoon, but they shouldn’t pose too much of an issue. Winds will pick up slightly as the front moves through with constant speeds between 5-10 mph and gusts up to 20 mph. The cold air mass will really settle in Monday, causing the afternoon high to drop into the low 70s. Skies will slowly begin to clear throughout the day as ridging/high pressure fills in as the low exits east, allowing for the afternoon to remain dry.

Long-term Forecast (Tuesday 6/11/2024 through Thursday 6/12/2024):

High pressure will dominate Tuesday as the strong ridge settles overhead. Mostly sunny skies are expected, and with dewpoints in the low-to-mid 50s will lead to a nice afternoon. Another longwave trough associated with a weak cold front will move through Wednesday. However, not enough forcing will be present to set off any real showers for the region, but skies will become cloudy. Zonal flow will take place aloft Thursday, leading to mostly clear skies and temperatures to warm back into the mid-to-upper 80s.
