Sunny skies this morning will soon transition to more cloudy by the afternoon. Temperatures today will be at a high of 88 degrees, and it will be somewhat humid as well. Winds will be 0-5 mph from the east-northeast, indicative of very mild high pressure that is soon to exit. Later this evening, cloudy skies will be predominant early but have a few breaks here and there overnight. Temperatures will drop to 66 degrees as winds shift to be from the east at 5-10 mph. A surface low approaching from the west will be arriving into the morning, bringing with it another round of rainy weather.

This surface low will be developing into a mature midlatitude cyclone by the time of its arrival on Sunday. In the morning, the warm front will see an increase in clouds with a chance of rain showers in the morning. Winds will increase to 10-15 mph from the south as we enter the warm sector. Temperatures will be at a high of 89 degrees, and humid conditions will be more prevalent. Partly cloudy skies can be observed. By night, the cold front will have reached the region, bringing cloudy skies and a chance for scattered thunderstorms, a few of which could be severe. Currently, a slight risk is in place for Athens on Sunday, the main threats being strong winds as the storms will follow a more linear track, though small hail is possible. There is a lot of disagreement on the storm timing, as it could range from the early evening to the early morning. As the system approaches, more clear details on timings should emerge. Another shortwave pattern following Monday and Tuesday could see another chance for scattered storms and showers, though by Wednesday, a calmer pattern will emerge briefly.
