Forecast Discussion

Nothing much to report in the short term forecast thanks to upper level ridging and high pressure at the surface building into the area. In addition to this, southwesterly flow will increase throughout the day and into tomorrow, bringing some gustier winds at times. Temperatures will be much warmer than yesterday, however, with highs in the 40s and plenty of sunshine. Clouds will be on the increase tonight as a troughing pattern approaches, sending a cold front through. No precipitation is expected out of this disturbance with the track of the system progressing east relatively quickly. By Sunday, temperatures will be in the 50s, bringing an end to the Arctic weather thanks to ridging building back in behind the passing disturbance. The next chance for precipitation will arrive Tuesday night into Wednesday as another front is anticipated to approach from the southwest. Models are still in disagreement on timing, but do expect a warmer than average week ahead with rain shower chances the greatest Wednesday through Friday.
