Tonight temperatures will dip down into the mid 50s which will give the Athens area a break from the summer like temperatures that the region has been experiencing for the past couple of days. Fog is expected to develop in the southeastern Ohio region tonight due to clear to mostly clear skies. Upper level ridging will develop Wednesday causing higher than average temperatures and dry conditions. The high Wednesday will reach the high 70s to low 80s. A surface low pressure system will begin to move its way down from northern Michigan which will increase the chance for precipitation in the area overnight. However, the major chance for rain will not occur until Saturday when a cold front moves across Athens Friday night.
