Hazardous Weather Outlook

Flood Watch until May 7, 8:00AM EDT

Showers and thunderstorms are likely today as a warm front pushes through the area. The most widespread activity and the greatest potential for excessive rainfall looks to be this afternoon and into the evening hours. Some storms may become strong to severe, with the greatest threats being damaging winds, hail, and an isolated tornado. Flash flooding is also a concern due to heavy downpours from storms. Rain and some storms will continue into Saturday as a low pressure is centered overhead, eventually pushing off to the east which should result in precipitation ending altogether by Saturday evening. High pressure will then be the dominate feature for the long term, providing dry weather and clear skies, in addition to a warming trend beginning early next week.
