Forecast Discussion
An upper level ridge that has dominated over the past week will continue to dominate over the next couple of days. This is driving a strong area of surface high pressure near the eastern seaboard. A small area of energy in the middle levels of the atmosphere will provide enough lift for scattered thunderstorms to develop this afternoon. Sunday looks to be the hottest day of the forecasting period, with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s. Upper ridging finally moves east of the area Monday, allowing a trough with an associated jet streak to move through. This is the main driving force behind an area of surface low pressure that is beginning to form in southern Ontario. This, along with its associated cold front, will move through the area Monday, bringing with it chances of rain and more seasonable temperatures to begin next week.
