The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Athens County from April 3rd at 2am until Sunday, April 6th at 8am. Excessive rainfall could cause flooding in rivers, creaks, streams, and other low-lying areas. Rainfall could total up to 5 inches over the next several days.

A very active weather period is expected late this evening into early tomorrow morning. The Severe Prediction Center has placed Athens until a slight risk for severe weather. All modes of severe weather are possible including tornadoes, severe winds, and hail. Be prepared to seek shelter if severe weather arises!

Have an umbrella handy the rest of this week! Rain is expected to continue for the next several days. Highs generally in the 50s-60s. Winds may be gusty at times.
